Cycle Saftey !

On Monday the 16th of August , room 11 and I had Cycle Saftey , after morning tea we went outside and had little session of how to put/wear a helmet . After that we all grabbed a partner and a helmet each and helped each other put it on , next we grabbed a bike each and stood in a straight line . Our teach Mrs Tupou-Fonua told 1 person to ride the bike without peddling so she could see who could go the furthest . She called each person 1 by 1 to go . After that we got to ride around our basketball and netball court . Finally we all had the opportunity to ride around the bike track once .

Camp !!

On the 24th-28th of May, the year 6, 7 and 8's went on camp to Kawau Island. My favorite day there was our fiafia night on Thursday, eveybody was in 6 groups and the group I was in was 'Red Jaguars' and I was one of the leaders . Everybody was performing a dance and a chant, sadly my group came last because some people in my group wasen't confident enough.

Week 1 of Term 1 - 2020

Week 1 of Term 1 - 2020

Hi, my name is Pinomi. My first day of school was fun
and exciting because I met some new classmates from
Room 9 and some new students.

This year I am in Room 10 and my teacher is Mr. Nath.
I am a year 7 now. I am very happy to be in Room 10.

My goals for this year are to become better at Maths,
Writing and Reading.

I would also like to play basketball like Kobe Bryant
and become a school leader.

This year, I would like to be in the Kapa Haka Club and
the Tongan Cultural group.

Life cicle of an mosquito

All mosquito species go through four distinct
stages during their life cycle. Female mosquitoes
lay their eggs on the inner wet walls of the container
with water, Mosquitoes lay eggs 100 at a time.

Larva emerge from mosquito eggs, but only after
the water level rises to cover the eggs.Larvae
feed on microorganisms is the water. After molting
three times, the larva becomes a pupa.

After adult mosquitoes emerge. Male mosquitoes
feed on nectar from flowers and female mosquitoes
feed on humans and animals for blood to produce eggs.

After feeding, female mosquitoes will look for water
sources to lay more eggs. The mama mosquito will
go on the eggs until they hatch, once they hatch they
all crawl on the mama mosquitos back and stay there
until their fully developed.

Book Week in Schools

This week was book week. There was a play performed in our school hall on Tuesday.

The play was about the Treasure Hunt that has been written by Craig Christie.

There were two tribes living on an island. These two tribes blamed each other for stealing each other songs.

The Trealand tribe was led by George and the Seaview Tribe was led by Jessica. These two characters teamed up to solve the problem about the lost treasure that was their song.

The problem was solved when they were able to put the torn map together and work out how to get to the treasure. They had to read three different books to solve the problem.

I really enjoyed this play because both the characters were very smart and talented. They sang very well and were also very hilarious.

Thank you Sam and Lydia for coming to our school. We hope to see you again next year.

Financial Literacy

We learnt about how to budget and save money. The other topics we learnt about were insurance, borrowing and lending, identity theft mortgage, trust, and saving money.

Our tutors were Emma, Jane and Matt from Price Waterhouse and (ooper Accountany Firm).

I enjoyed all the sessions because the activities were very exciting.

Kiwi Sport

Today the senior school had its first kiwi sport session for this term.

Ben, from Auckland Badminton taught us some badminton sluills. We used a badminton racket and a shuffle.

using a forearm hit and backhand hit. Ben also taught us how to hold the racket using different grips.

Cultural Groups

I am feeling very hyped about taking part in cultural activities at

school this term.

Today I picked 2 cultural groups that I want to be in. My

first choice was Fijian and I picked Tongan as my second choice.

I am very hyped about taking lessons and taking part in it.

My Weekend

In the weekend my 3 brothers and 4 sisters went to my cousins new house.

First, my aunty picked us up and drove us to there new house.Then my aunty left with 2 of my sisters to go do the shopping.While they were at pak'in Save me and my brother were playing fortnite together on a ps4 each, my brother was playing on my uncle's ps4 and I was playing on my older brothers ps4 in the next room.

 Next, my aunty got back from the shopping and all of us went to go and get it in.Then my other uncle came and then my other uncle came and then my mum came with a lot of food and lollies.Then my 3 older sisters were making dinner while the kids were playing on the 2 ps4's.

Finally,dinner was finished we all went on the table and ate rice,sausage rolls and pork. After eating dinner we had ice cream for our desert and then we all got our stuff ready and went back to our house.

My Holiday

In the holidays my family and I went to a amazing place called the VR room for my cousin’s birthday.First,we all got changed and and got in the van and went to go and pick my other cousin’s.

Next, we drove all the way to town because that is were the VR room is,then we arrived my uncle dropped us off there and he said”I’m going to find a parking,while we were waiting we saw heaps of people on a electric scooter.Then we saw him walking down the hill and we all went in the VR room and walked upstairs.

Then, we all felt like we were in heaven because we saw a lot of VR and it was so amazing.When we got up there the owner of the place told us how to do the games because the tv is touch screen and the headset and controllers.

After that we choose our tv and headset and controller,the first game I played was a scary and terrifying it was the ROLLERCOASTER it was so hard because you have to stand up and not sit down,I was just running and I tried to sit down because I was scared.

After playing the roller coaster my little cousin wanted me to go in the singing both with him to sing his favorite song psy,then we finally finished, we walked out of it and were going in different type of car parks, then we saw our van we drove to Glen Innes to buy takeaways. Then we drove home and saw a lot of cars and I just remembered it was New years eve.

Finally,it was night we all said”bye” to each other and we went to the room to sleep.

I had a fun time today and it was so fun at the VR room.

FUN TIME WITH MY FRIEND

In the weekend on Saturday 16th of February 2019, I was laying down on my bed playing on my grandpa’s phone. After a while my big brother came in my room and said ”You can play game” so I ran to his room put the headset on and I turned on the PS4 and went on his account and went on party. I saw Ali-jon’s party so I decided to go in his party. We both said”hi” at each other and then I went on fortnite.

Then I was in the lobby waiting for Ali-jon to join but he wasn't joining, so I decided to spam him and then he joined.Then we were playing duos and we almost won. Ali-jon said ”we died because of my brothers”, so after that game Ali-jon’s cousins joined so we all played squads. In our first game  Ali-jon died except me.  I almost won and I carried all of them because they all had like 2 or 5 kills and I had 12 kills.

After that game we played another squads and we landed on the Tilted Towers and we all died there. So Ali-jon’s cousin quit, so we decided to play creative and we all were 1v1ing.Then Ali-jon decided to watch youtube so all I did was play solos.

Finally it was night.  My big brother said ”I’m going to play now” so I changed it to another game called Apex Legends for him. I hopped off and went to the kitchen to make a cup of tea for myself. Then went to my bed and laid down ready to go to sleep. Then after a while I woke up because I could hear my big brother shouting and laughing talking to my cousin because they were playing together. He was still awake at 2am then I just opened my netbook, while watching youtube I fell asleep.

Fun Time With Family

During the weekend my siblings and I went to Sylvia Park to watch an amazing movie called “Avengers Infinity War”.First,we were at home getting ready in warm clothes because it was a cold night and then we all went outside and my brother drove us.

Next, we all went in a van and drove to Sylvia Park. We first went to Pak’ N Save to buy food and treats for the movie.Then we drove to the movies and went inside. We were waiting in the mall for about ten minutes and while we were waiting we were taking pictures.

Then, the movie was almost about to start, my five sisters were hiding the food in their jackets. When we walked in the cinemas we bought our tickets and some popcorn and drinks then walked in the theater and we were looking for our seats.

When the movie started my sisters took the food out of their jackets and we were all eating the lollies and the popcorn. My little brother and I fell asleep for the whole movie.

Finally,the movie finished and we all walked outside and we were looking for our van. Then we were driving to Mcdonalds in Glen Innes and bought a dinner box. We then got home and we walked into the house .My nana and grandpa was just watching a rugby game. We walked in the kitchen and ate our Mcdonalds. After that we all went the room and we went to sleep. It was a lovely outing.

Water Fun Day

Today Glenbrae School had Water Fun Day. Everyone dressed up in there house colour and we all lined up in our classes. There were 5 activity’s, the first activity room 10 did was the water slide. What we had to do is dip our cup in the bucket full of water then we raced down the slide and ran all the way to our house bin and tip the water in there. We kept on doing it over and over again the until Mrs Tofa rang the bell witch meant we had to change.

The second activity we did was walk the plank. What we had to do was the first person in the line had to walk the plank and grab the cup and run to the bin and tip it in there. Then Mrs.Ellia called Key and me to get another plank because Nikau had to pair up with Kauri because the did not have a plank so me and Key went and got another plank, when we got back Kauri was happy because Nikau was slowing them down, then Mrs.Tofa rang the bell so we changed around.

The third activity we did was the 3 legged race. What we had to do was we had to partner up with someone in your group, I partnered up with key, We got the cup and filled it up with water then we put your arms together and ran up the hill to get to the bin and tipped it in there then we ran down and gave it to our other teammates. Then Mrs.Tofa rang the bell and we changed around.

Our forth activity we did was the spongebob wetpants. First we all lined up in our hose line and the first person at the line had to get the sponge and put it in the water and what we did was put the sponge over our head and put it under our legs and the last person at the end of the line ran with the sponge and squeezed it in the bin until Mrs.Tofa rang the bell.

Our last activity we did was the zig zag relay. We all lined up in our house line and the first person in the line have to dip it in the bucket full of water and in front of them was 5 cones for us to zig zag it but to make it harder it was on the side of our hill. We all raced down and tipped it in the our house bin, mostly everyone was tipping the water on there way down.

Then, it finished we all sat down on the courts and Mrs.Tofa and the other teachers and students were measuring the bins with little buckets. How the did it was they dipped the bucket in the bin and took it out and tipped it on the grass . They measured Kowhai bin first and the were 7. Next they measured Rata’s bin and it was 6 and 3 quarters, Then they measured Kauri’s bin and they got 6 and a half, Then the measured Nikau’s bin and they had the least amount of water. Mrs.Tofa said” 1st is Kowhai 2nd Rata 3rd Kauri and 4th Nikau”.

Finally, we all went back to our classes and got changed, after getting changed it was morning tea we all had our lunch and for participating we got a yummy treat and it was a ICE BLOCK.

I really enjoyed having water fun day and playing fun activities.

Hello My name is Pinomi and I am 10 years old.
My culture is Full Tongan. My dad’s name is Tiveta and
he works at the airport, My mum’s name is Lute and she
stays home looking after my baby sister. I have 3 handsome
brothers and 7 beautiful sisters.

My hobbies are playing  Rugby, Soccer and
playing video games and to learn. My favorite food is puaka
 and my favorite colour is red, My favorite person is my mum
because I like what she cooks.

My favorite fruit is banana and my favorite video game to
play is Fortnite because I play with my friends.

When I grow up, I would like to become a police officer.

My Made Up Story

One dark, gloomy night a man named John
was working in a cemetery digging a hole.
Then he saw a hand come out of Mason Liu’s
grave, he quickly ran out of the
cemetery and shouted”
HELP THERES A ZOMBIE. Then he
ran all the way to his house.

Next, all the dead people came out of there
graves and started scratching and biting
everybody, but 2 soldiers named John  and
Gideon was eating at a restaurant and
heard a strange noise, he quickly flipped
the table and was hiding, he took his
pistol out of his pocket and ran outside
and started shooting the zombies then
Gideon grabbed John and they ran to the
train station.

Then, they were hiding in the train then
they saw a zombie John said”Shoot it” then
Gideon said”NO it will attract more
zombies” so they ran to a motel, went in a
room, boarded up the windows and door.
Then 1 hour later they heard a big loud
bang they got u and opened the door
and it was the air force people they
saved John and Gideon and they were safe.
